Multi Academy Trust – Progress
Queen Mary’s Grammar School | Queen Mary’s High School | Walsall Studio School | Aldridge School | Shire Oak Academy
Our five schools are establishing a Multi Academy Trust (The Mercian Trust). The Queen Mary’s Foundation, the Vine Trust Group and the Governing Bodies of our five schools all believe that this proposal will help safeguard and strengthen the excellent education which is currently provided by each of the Schools, bringing benefit to current and future students and to the schools’ local and regional communities.
The governing bodies have been working together in order to finalise the legal processes that are required in order to formalise the establishment of the Mercian Trust. There is a lot to be done in this respect, but we hope to be operating formally early in the new year.
The first evidence of our collaborative relationship with our Mercian Trust colleagues is the establishment of a sixth form offer which has what we are calling a 'MAT Block'. This provides subjects which will be offered to all Y12 students in the MAT thus enabling all to access a wider curriculum with subjects which are often difficult to provide due to small numbers opting from individual providers.
Each of the academies in our Trust are providing detailed information on their sixth form provision at a series of information evenings. The one for Queen Mary's High School will be held on Wednesday 16th November from 7pm. Once our information booklet has been finalised we will publish it on our web site under the curriculum tab (sixth form).
