Year 8 Activity Week 2011

Every year, for 5 days in July, our Y8 pupils take part in an educational and fun visit abroad. One group goes to France, another to Germany and a third to Spain. These trips are very popular with our pupils and something they all look forward to!

This Year, the French group went to Normandy and stayed in a hotel in Rouen. They had the opportunity to use their language skills in various shops, had the pleasure to discover Monet’s house and gardens and discovered many other aspects of French culture through varied visits and activities.

The group going to Germany stayed in the town of Trier with its picturesque half-timbered houses. There, they visited the Roman Amphitheatre and Baths and went on a boat trip on the river.  On the last day, they admired the beautiful landscapes around the river Moselle from a cable car and visited the fairy tale castle of Eltz .

The group visiting Spain went to the North of the country, in Cantabria. They stayed in a small picturesque medieval village called ‘Santillana del Mar’. They were able to visit one of the most treasured site in Cantabria : the caves of El Soplao, famous for their spectacular stalactites and stalagmites. They also went to the beach and on a cable car ride in the mountains.
