Design & Technology
Design and Technology lessons provide opportunities for students to develop their capability, through combining their designing and making skills with knowledge and understanding in order to create quality products.
Design & Technology gives students the opportunity to be resourceful and practical and gives them the satisfaction of actually creating something.
Within Key Stage Three pupils will study Food Technology, Graphics, Textiles and Resistant Materials. Pupils will work on a variety of exciting and challenging projects building their knowledge and skills in these different material areas.
Within Key Stage Four pupils can choose to continue their studies in Product Design and Textiles. Pupils build on their Key Stage Three experience and can now choose from a range of exciting projects.
At Key Stage Five we offer AS and A2 Product Design.
Pupils from Resistant Materials and Textiles backgrounds will find this course challenging and exciting.
Pupils are free to choose projects which interest them in their chosen material area.
What do our students think?
“My experience of Design & Technology has been enjoyable and full of inspiration. I feel Design & Technology has broadened my imagination and brought out the creative side in me. It has helped me to recognise my strengths and weaknesses and skills.”
“Design & Technology will support my learning in the future because it makes you more independent; therefore you become more independent in other subjects too, this would then support my learning”
