PSHCEE Year 10
PSHCEE at Queen Mary's High School has been planned and is annually revised to meet current National Curriculum and Health Education requirements. We have a carefully constructed, coherent programme throughout Key Stages 3 and 4 which also includes much of the Citizenship curriculum.
Our main aim is to encourage each individual girl to develop as an informed, well-rounded person able to make her own choices and decisions and take her place in society.
At Key Stage 4, four circulating groups experience eight different modules, each module being delivered by one teacher to all girls in a year group. The content of the PSHCE modules builds on work done in KS3 and complements some of the statutory Religious Studies programme.
In Year 10 students will study a) Careers and Personal Finance – Part 1, b) Rights and responsibilities; Crime and punishment c) Global Citizenship and d) Healthy living (with an emphasis on body image and self-esteem).
In Year 11 students will study a) Careers and Personal Finance – Part 2, b) Relationships and Life Events, c) Government and Democracy and d) Healthy living (with an emphasis on Drug and Sex Education).
Girls work individually and in groups. Every opportunity is taken to invite outside speakers to share their expertise.
Although this is not an examination subject in itself, the performance of individual girls and groups is assessed throughout each module.
