Students are given opportunities to acquire competence, capability and critical skills through the creation, implementation, use and evaluation of a range of information and communication systems.

The topics that will be covered include:

  • emerging technologies
  • health issues
  • legal and ethical issues
  • staying safe online
  • social and environmental impact
  • organisations
  • networks
  • sound
  • animation
  • images
  • multimedia
  • web software
  • presentation software
  • DTP
  • spreadsheets
  • email
  • security
  • information handling software
  • home entertainment

Assessment takes the form of two written examinations.  The first is on ‘Understanding ICT’ and the second on ‘ICT in Organisations’.  There are also two controlled assignments which will be set by the examination board and completed in lesson time.  The first of these is called ‘Solving Problems with ICT’ and the other is ‘Developing Multimedia ICT Solutions’.
