ICT Year 8

Aims:
In year 8 we aim to build on year 7 ICT work and introduce the student to additional software.  We aim to increase the level of demand in the units of work and to complete some complicated database and spreadsheet tasks.

Student decision making and evaluations play an important role in year 8 units.

Content:
The year 8 ICT curriculum is unit based and mainly covers levels 4 to 6.  Students have 1 lesson of ICT per week.

The units covered are:
  • Data Handling (creating and analysing on-line surveys)
  • Spreadsheets and Modelling (Formulae, functions, charts)
  • Storybooks (Simple animations, sound, presentation software)
  • Five-a-day (Databases, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, presentation software)
Assessment:
Homework is set regularly.
Each unit is assessed and awarded a level plus sublevel.

Extra Curricular
A computer room is available for student use at lunchtime.
