Computing and IT Year 7
In year 7 we aim to build on the ICT strategy that is delivered in primary schools and also aim to build up a student’s range of ICT skills and techniques whilst paying attention to the intended audience and purpose of a task. Students are required to evaluate their work and to begin making informed decisions in choice of techniques used.
The year 7 Computing and IT curriculum is unit based and mainly covers levels 4 and 5, with some provision made for levels 3 and 6. Students have 1 lesson of Computing and IT per week.
The units covered are:
- Esafety (including Internet research and desktop publishing skills)
- Introduction to Hardware
- Animated Storybook - using Fireworks
- Binary representation
Homework is set regularly.
Each unit is assessed and awarded a level plus sublevel.
